Samsung Smart Transparent Window.

I was watching the CES 2012 show live yesterday and they went to this, Samsung’s Smart Window.

Even a day later I’m amazed by it, this is the future.

Imagine having this in as a kitchen window, write notes - the new fridge - and watch TV whilst cooking and keep the area uncluttered, then at night pull the blind down so people can’t still see in and it turns opaque.

Press Release:

While the Samsung Transparent Window is still being used in trials in the US, the company is hoping to bring the technology to Singapore as an experiment.

The Transparent Smart Window is a 46-inch touchscreen LCD that transforms the window into a computer screen. Using the onboard interface, you can access everything from social media apps and cooking recipe to online shopping and videos. What’s really cool though is how Samsung has included a blinds feature that lets the user simulate the opening and closing of the blinds by sliding up and down the touchscreen display.

Specs:

  • 1,366 x 768 resolution
  • 72-percent color reproduction
  • 9mm side thickness; 2mm active screen thickness
  • 4.5kg
  • HDMI and USB interface

What do you think and how much would you pay for something like this?
